Who we are

Learning should be fun, which is why Barking Riverside Explorers is focused on ensuring a varied curriculum. This helps our little adventurors experience a wide variety of what this wonderful world has to offer and ensure school-readiness in their subject knowledge within the 7 core areas of learning.

Many other Early Years settings take more of a ‘wanderer’ approach, which is less structured, allowing the child free reign over what they do. While we have elements of this in our curriculum, we believe that to be a legendary explorer, such as Christopher Columbus, Sir Francis Drake and the like, you need to navigate. Our cirriculum serves as our map and by observing each child, we have our compass, in order to steer towards school-readiness.

What makes us different

Shay Orr is the visionary for Explorers Preschool. The wealth of knowledge she brings with her was accumulated across separate continents, where she saw very different approaches to education within Early Years. As a SENCO, she also witnessed the importance of school-readiness for a child.

A child who is ready for school will have the confidence, emotional maturity, discipline and love for learning which is needed to thrive in School and beyond.

Barking Riverside Explorers incorporates these learnings and brings in more modern thought leadership in Early Years Education for a happy and fulfilling schooling experience.
